New Blogging buddy

We have had a busy end of week. After the snow on Tuesday school was cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday. It was a nice quiet week.  Until Thursday...

Last Saturday, we were out looking at paint samples, getting ready to make some awesome color changes at the house, when we happened to go into PetCo where the Animal Shelter had some dogs on display.  There was a really cute puppy there, and she had some litter-mates at the Shelter about 40 minutes away. We thought, "Why not take a drive, we haven't been on that road yet." Which is rare, Tim's been on almost every road around here for his job.  We made it over to the shelter, it was a pretty drive.  There was one puppy we were wanting to see, with a little patch of brindle on her left eye. A boxer
mix. She came into the greeting room, and she was shaking and skinny and only 8 weeks old.  Well, the rest is history.

This is our new little Paisley. She was born on November 29, 2013 so she is about 9 weeks old.  Tim picked her up at the vet after she had her spay surgery.  She was pretty groggy, but she let us pet her and hold her.  Kennedy was very nervous about a dog, because she had a rough finish with our long time dogs Tuff and Tillie in Arizona.  We decided that kids need to have a chance to have a puppy, because puppies are just cute and clumsy and adorable and endearing.  Tim and I were nervous to take on the demands of a puppy, but that's what you do for kids, right?
Here she is coming home with Tim in a little crate. She was still coming off anesthesia, so she was pretty groggy.

She just sat there looking at the girls, dazed, and the girls were all sparkly eyed!
Kennedy is excited to have a puppy to learn and grow and help take care of. She's loving it so far!

We have had lots of fun! Puppies are such a fun adventure for kids.  She won't be a puppy for long, and even now, 3 days into it, she has been so well behaved!  She had a few "accidents" on her first day home, because she was drugged and full of fluids, but the girls thought it was fun to try to slide a piddle pad under her when she squatted. Most times we missed. On Friday, the girls went to school, and I was home with her. She was good all day, I kept a good routine of eat-play-rest-potty-play-rest-potty. and she had no accidents in the house.  Saturday was even better with the girls home, and today she even asked a couple of times to go out to go potty! Either she's faking us out, or we are all actually getting the hang of this house breaking thing. Yay! Hopefully we can keep this up.  She was a little sick this morning, didn't want to eat until this afternoon, but she's been fine since dinner.  Hopefully she'll sleep tonight (so I can sleep) and feel all better tomorrow.

On another note, I had the chance to teach in Relief Society today as a last minute fill-in.  I taught on the message President Monson gave at the Relief Society broadcast last September called We Never Walk Alone. It was good to re-study it after the challenge we had with moving and buying our house. It was also  good chance to be in there one last week and be introduce myself and my family, as I was sustained to be a Sunbeams teacher in Sacrament Meeting.  That will be fun. I'm excited for that.
